I spent this evening watching the recording of the Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial.
All the stars were there, of course. Speeches were made and songs were sung.
Everything said was filled with hope. Hope for a better future.
The part that struck me the most was towards the end. I know you’re expecting me to say it’s when the President spoke. However, it was when Pete Seeger (American Folk Singer), his grandson Tao Rodriguez-Seeger (Folk Singer) and Bruce Springsteen sang This Land is Your Land.
Cue the music… it’s time for some nostalgia. Press play on the video and read on…
I found it interesting as I was searching for a clip for this song that apparently the versions we learned as children had a few verses that were cut out of it, apparently for political reasons. The video above includes these cut verses.
I can’t remember the last time I even heard that song. I honestly think it was from my childhood…years ago when we did plays about the American Revolution and learned all those great songs about our beautiful USA.
But I digress…. back to the reason for this blog post. As I was listening to the song, my simple thought was this: it’s important for us to remember that regardless of who our President is… This is YOUR Land.
Who is President does not define your future… only YOU can determine your future. I personally don’t believe in putting hope into one person outside of yourself. I think that we ALL have it in ourselves for success. The power for change and greatness lies within YOU. If you dig deep enough, you will find it there. All the gifts of success, happiness and hope are there… waiting to be discovered.
This is YOUR land, YOUR life, YOUR future. Make a decision to change, then make it happen.

Hey Tula, love what you’re doing with the blog here! The layout looks great! Concerning your post here, it’s amazing to the see the change in mindset and support toward our latest President in just the short time he’s been in office. It’s amazing how one persons popularity can plummet or prosper based on the smallest decisions. I look forward to seeing this blog develop, I’m sure it will be awesome!
Cheers!
