2010 – A New Look for a New Decade

Today, I am officially launching a new look for my blog in 2010! The look is based on my lessons from the past decade, so it’s only fair to do a decade in review.

In this past decade, life saw it fit to teach me some very hard lessons. Unfortunately, it took me about just as long to learn those lessons… but learn I did. Below are just some snippets of the things I learned in the last decade. These snippets will also serve as a list of topics that I will dig deeper into and expand on in the future.

  • Every decision made has either immediate or future consequences and has led you to where you are today.
  • You are only as happy as you allow yourself to be.
  • The most important thing in life is to honor and respect yourself.
  • Always listen to your body and gut instincts. They exist to make the right decisions for you.
  • Every person you meet and event that occurs in life has a lesson for you. Open your heart to others and the lessons they bring.
  • It is impossible to please everyone, so please yourself first.
  • There is nothing you can do or say to make someone else happy. Happiness comes from within. People must make themselves happy. Your only role should be to share in their happiness. If someone can’t be happy by themselves, they can not be happy with you (and vice versa).
  • Marriage should be a true partnership of lifting each other up, not breaking each other down.
  • Sometimes you just have to cut your losses, swallow your pride, cut the chord and start over.
  • People have their own issues to deal with. Just because you love them doesn’t mean you have to go down with them. Allow others to learn their lessons in life.
  • It’s ok to be selfish and do things for yourself sometimes. If you don’t take care of yourself, who else will?
  • Some people are manipulative and don’t have your best interest at heart.
  • It doesn’t make you a bad person to set boundaries for people in your life and enforce those boundaries.
  • People that really love you shouldn’t try to shove their agenda on you. People that really love you also shouldn’t be trying to make you feel guilty or scared about making a specific decision.
  • Old friends are like fine wine, they get better with age.
  • When people make fun of your laugh, laugh louder.
  • Fear is the single most crippling agent of life.
  • Stand strong to your beliefs and principles. Screw what anyone else thinks. Always be true to yourself.
  • Allow yourself to be whatever you are in that moment.
  • Speak out and be heard but be mindful of your tongue. God gave you a voice, use it for good and to help others.
  • When someone brings you lemons, make lemonade. Don’t be afraid to spike it if you desire!
  • I am stronger than I ever imagined I could be
  • Be, Do, Have.
  • Anything can be accomplished once one sets their mind to it! Nothing is impossible!
  • Prepare, execute, conquer.
  • May the new decade bring you all health, happiness and prosperity! May you learn your lessons quickly and come closer to being the best person you can be! God Bless all of you! I look forward to a year of great discussions on this blog with all of you!

    Blessings,
    Tula

    4. Life has been tough for me and I am glad to see the end of 2009 and the end of the decade.

People have left my life but many others have also come in to it for which I am grateful. I have hopes for the future and can begin to see the positives again.

Your words of wisdom have given me food for thought and meditation. You are a true inspiration Tula – thank you!
