Rainwater Reflexion – Part Deux

Would you believe I completely lost my last site? (Thanks GoDaddy) Ok, so it’s not completely GoDaddy’s fault, however I am not happy about them taking advantage of a situation. I don’t do business like that. I have a lot of URLs and had turned off the auto renewal for them. Without realizing, the auto renewal for my hosting also got turned off. When I went to one of my sites some time back to make some changes only to realize nothing was there. Log into my GoDaddy account and don’t see my hosting. I call them up to renew and ask for my files back (apparently, my hosting had run out 3 weeks previously) and they state I will have to start from scratch. BIG mistake on my part for not backing up my files! I ask if my files will be retrieved only to find out they will charge me a good chunk of change to retrieve them. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has made the mistake of not auto renewing my hosting and I’m sure retrieving the files is a PIA for them. But I don’t appreciate GoDaddy taking advantage of someone’s plight of a mistake by charging up the ying yang to get their files back. To me, that’s not good business.

So, out of sheer principal of the matter, I’m not paying them to retrieve my files and am starting from scratch again. I’m also in the midst of switching my hosting and will never go back to GoDaddy again. As soon as I know how this new hosting company is and how they treat their customers, I will let you all know whom I’ve moved to. But for the moment, I will no longer recommend GoDaddy. The most unfortunate part of this is that I had some very, very good blog posts written up and they are all gone. I only have 2 that I saved on my computer hard drive. Everything else was written directly onto my blog. It’s all gone. :(

Very, very valuable lesson learned…. ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR FILES!!

In the meantime, I’m rebuilding the look and the feel of the site and will be re-loading the 2 past blogs I do still have. But, life has been brewing and I have SEVERAL new blogs churning in my head (at least 3 right now). So stay tuned and check back often! Rainwater Reflexion Part Deux is now launching!

Blessings,
Tula Rainwater
